Senior University Lecturer in the Department of Contemporary History of the UPV/EHU, where he has developed his teaching and research activity since 1991. Since 2011, he has been the Academic Secretary of the Department of Contemporary History of the UPV/EHU.

Degree in Geography and History from the University of Deusto (1986) and Doctor in Geography and History from the UPV/EHU (1993).

Member of the consolidated research group “Biography & Parliament”. He has principally developed his research activity in the group, in the lines of research concerned with the study of elites through collective biography and prosopographical analysis.

In developing this work, he has participated in numerous research projects and contracts, notable amongst which are the Biographical Dictionary of the MPs of the Basque Country (1876-1939), the project Biographical Dictionary and Prosopographical Analysis: the MPs of the Basque Country (1977-1982), funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and Biographical Dictionary of the Spanish MPs (1810-1854), funded by the Spanish Parliament.

Together with this group activity, he has developed research and published articles on the social and political history of Bizkaia during the crisis of the Ancien Regime and on political institutions in the contemporary Basque Country. Similarly, he has elaborated and published teaching material on the History of the World Today.
